Odd. The people jumping up and down upstairs cause thudding sounds that, in my sleepy state, sound remarkably similar to the dynamite charges that were used to knock over the old Printing and Duplicating building all last week. (Except they're less well-timed.)

Finished one task and approx 3,700 words for wmisuinas and Mortals yesterday. It's not impressive when racked up against kittydesade's word totals... but... NOTHING is.

Weird, weird dream last night. Actually, considering my subconscious, it was remarkably straightforward, aside from being pregnant for part of the dream and (I think?) married to Spike out of Buffy. Anyway, the important bit was completely frustrating when I was asleep, and then the obvious moral hit me when I was awake, and then, considering that I'm, well, me, I had to wrestle with that, because the obvious moral is not one that my subconscious would normally preach. So I fiddled with it mentally while I was in the shower, and I think I know what it means now, in the context of me, my life, and my worldview -- but if I get a series dream, I'm going to be completely crawling the walls.

I'm procrastinating on getting dressed and getting my butt in gear because I'm afraid my instructor is going to require me to stop partway through my ASL piece due to going over time. ...I wish I had taken more time. I wish I had memorized this. Spilled milk, and all that. Here I come, world.

Writing

I polished off another short story today -- "Antelopes". 1,800 words, about a thousand of which were written today, but... who's counting? Goal-accomplishment: something was written. Also, MZB's magazine didn't (doesn't?) accept stories upward of 5,000 words, so there's certainly room for short fiction in the world, even if my ideas tend to be longer than that.

The starting point for "Antelopes": something happened that upset me, but I didn't really want to write a miserable LJ post about it, so I tried to channel my energy toward a productive goal. I think it worked. It's one of the most stream-of-consciousness pieces I've ever written; I think my LARP background is showing.

Hmm.
