The Exalted game
Feb. 19th, 2006 08:34 amLast night, Lo (our Dawn caste nomad barbarian) insisted on showing our Chamber of Unspeakable Artifacts to the Nexus building inspector.
I wish I were kidding. "Hey, you should see our Chamber of Unspeakable Artifacts!" he said gleefully, and then herded the man down the stairs to see precisely that.
Other great moments:
- Dosan (our Dawn caste monk, formerly a noble of House Peleps, played by someone who's been away for a while) arrived in Nexus. Lo beamed at him, gave him a rib-crushing hug, and asked how his wife was. Dosan said, "Well, I haven't seen her lately. No, come to think of it-- I haven't seen her AT ALL!" accompanied by a stark glare. (You see, he's only married because we married him off while he was completely unconscious in order to save our own skins.)
- Lo decided that the colossal obelisk to the Unconquered Sun standing in our courtyard was insufficient. He went off and had plans for a massive temple drawn up, and he's now trying to convince Theonis (Eclipse caste, and 4th of the 4th rank in the Merchant Guild) that we really can afford to have it built, and it really is worth us donating every last coin we have to his cause. This is made increasingly awkward by the part where Theonis just realized Lo can read First Age script and really wants to be on his side.
- My character, the Child of Silence, suddenly realized that Lo had just given a group of automaton guards orders to "kill" without specifying things like "kill who" or "unless they surrender". Not only is he completely unable to make noise, but the guards are under strict orders to ignore his existence, since, for reasons we're not quite clear about, they break if they pay attention to him. While everyone else was fighting, I was running around trying desperately to get the attention of someone who would make sure the guards didn't crush any cowering shopkeepers.
- After every combat type in the group failed to stop the evil Autochthonian lady from growing wings and preparing to dive-bomb us, Theonis, who had been making tea through most of the battle, suddenly stepped out of the building with a kitchen knife and pegged her in the wing.
- We discovered that the mercenaries we pulped were a failed theatre company, so we got a recreation of the battle in which we'd pulped them. It was pretty good. We've decided to keep them.
- A new arrival to the party (the building inspector mentioned above) managed to kill the Deathlord who was our primary antagonist for the last six months. When we were rolling up the building inspector, the GM decided to give him a custom-created, extraordinarily deadly Charm called "Reverse the Fluids". It has something to do with controlling the other person's blood, lymph, and so forth. It requires you to be in physical contact with the other person. (This was in interests of keeping him up with the party in power level without totally confusing him, since he's completely new to Exalted.) So, when the Deathlord grabbed him, he used it. The Deathlord was being pummeled by Lo and didn't have very much attention to spare for the scrawny building inspector. Consequently, he detonated.
- Theonis killed an Autochtonian colonel solo due to seven successes on a called shot to the neck. Of course, no one was around to see it. However, he got his props by throwing the colonel out the window, waving, and grinning. It was a good night for Theonis.
There were many others, but they would make even less sense to those who weren't in the game. I can't remember the last time I laughed as hard as I did last night. It was wonderful.
