Mossdog updates again!
Mar. 6th, 2008 11:21 pmI said I was going to bed an hour ago. Where does the time go?
I've just finished putting up five more songs. The main page is at http://www.soundclick.com/mossdog, or you can go to the full music listing at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=701018&content=music.
"Sidelong" - Under the influence of Dance Dance Revolution, I've been trying to put together a few pieces with a decent beat and a feeling of movement. I think this is the most successful thus far. Breathy flute, bassoon, keyboard, and drums.
"Grey Dolphin's Premonition" - Hey, look! A drastic tempo change midway through! (This is probably also the influence of DDR, where I routinely find dramatic tempo changes and respond by falling on my nose.) Clarinet, piano, and miscellaneous strings.
"Peace On Earth" - This one's a first, since it's a brass piece. For some reason, I'm much more drawn to woodwind, piano, and guitar. Still, experimentation is not a bad thing, I hope? Two trumpets, trombone, and a tuba. I wrote lyrics for it, but I was in the Christmas spirit and I now think they're cheesy. Ah, well; no one will make you read them.
"Forever In A Day" - Another piano solo. Partial lyrics exist.
"A Conversation Conducted in Restraint" - A languid composition with violin, guitar, bass, piano, and drums, with oboe substituting for the missing vocals. Full lyrics exist.
Incidentally, almost all of my pieces on Soundclick are marked "Instrumental/Classical". Frankly, my ability to categorize what I write is... lacking.
If you listen to something and say to yourself, "Hey, this isn't Instrumental/Classical, it's" (whatever it is), then could you let me know? I'm happy to stuff it in a more appropriate category.
Again, my thanks to
alwaysneverland for the icon support; also, my thanks to
ratatosk for the current Mossdog image (heavily cropped from one he took recently.)
