Rather to my surprise, I've discovered that my parents are actively and firmly against me getting a second bachelor's degree. Their expressed opinion is that I already have one and it would be a waste of time and money to get a second one. They have nothing against me studying interpretation, but feel I should simply focus on the interpretation.

It isn't that I'm against going for a certificate only. I understand that it is much more important to pass the RID exam than to get a degree (since getting a degree does not certify you to interpret, and only the RID exam can do that.) It isn't that I'm against community colleges, either. I'm just scared of them because I don't trust them to be as good as four-year colleges and universities. That's why I'm leaning toward attending a four-year program.

I should already have most of my general requirements satisfied for any college, thanks to Beloit, and, if I then take all the classes for an interpreting major from a four-year college, I imagine I'll be only a class or two away from getting a second degree. (Beloit didn't have me take math. I imagine I would have to take math.)

Is there no advantage to having a second degree on my transcript?

Man, this whole returning-to-school deal is confusing the hell out of me.
