Small accomplishments
Apr. 10th, 2006 09:38 amToday, I got lost, and then I got unlost again. It wasn't a very complicated process, since the error involved proceeding down a street parallel to the one I actually wanted, but I was very concerned about compounding the error if I was mistaken in how I'd made it, so I went back up to where I'd made the error, went across, and went down again. This took extra time, but at least it worked.
I wrote LJ entries in my head through most of this process, but most of what I thought about... well, after a time, it didn't seem to be such a good idea to type it up, so I'll leave most of it in my head where it belongs.
I successfully purchased a head of cabbage, two bags of carrots, four green peppers, and a bus pass. Yay, errands.
Later, I will care for my bunny, argue with the post office about the PO box I don't yet have, and argue with the RMV about the driver's license that I don't yet have. These are not impressive tasks, but they are the size that I feel competent to deal with.
I will also probably spend some time knitting today. I have learned to knit (the basics, at least) and I find it comforting. I've been in a perpetually fuzzy state, so anything complicated is out of the question, but "...stitch, stitch, stitch, stitch, reach the end of the row, reverse, stitch, stitch, stitch, stitch..." is something I can do on automatic. Things I can do on automatic are good.
I will also clean up cat sick, since an imp of Satan decided to produce cat sick immediately outside my bed. This same imp decided to writhe about on her back on a foot-wide chunk of desk while I was trying to type, which almost resulted in her plummeting back-first off the desk. Then when I caught her, she looked annoyed about being caught... aiyee.
I have a feeling she's trying to make me feel better. Or else she's trying to make it up to me for the sick. Either way, I feel a bit better. So that's nice. Silly critter.
